3 Beauty Tips Your Photographer Wont Tell You

posted in Tips on

Over the years, I have picked up some tips for looking your best both in photos and in your videos. With so many tips out there, here are 3 tips I found working you won’t find anywhere else.

No Gum Chewing: This goes for you and the rest of the wedding party. On of the most frustrating things a couple will encounter is a going through all your wedding photos and can’t find the one perfect full wedding party shot. Don’t be forced to choose over your best friend’s eyes closed, or worse… her mouth open. Stick to mints for fresh kissable breath!

Practice in the mirror: Models do it, why shouldn’t you? Take some of your favorite poses you’ve seen and practice them in a mirror. Make sure if your an all teeth smily person, to practice some relaxed mouth smile, for that romantic look. If your a mouth closed smiler, pay attention to smiling with your eyes. Extra bonus if you can get your fiancée to join in too, Oh!- while your there practice that ever so romantic kissing shot.

Hold your bouquet low: If you choose to have a bouquet, keep this in mind: the lower, the better. None of us are use to carrying a bouquet in our regular daily life, so when in doubt, stay low. For most bouquets, you should have only a slight bend in the elbow (it feels weird, I know). Make sure to pass this tip on, not only does it lengthen your torso but it shows off the details of your clothes.

Why Video Matters – Orlando Wedding Videographers

posted in Tips, Weddings and tagged , , , , , on

I’m sure you’ve read it in your bridal magazine or planning book, but i’ll say it again, because so manny brides wish that they’d spring for a professional videographer for their wedding.

I get a handful of emails from past clients who call and tell me that their family member or close friend, who attend the wedding died unexpectedly after the wedding, and the wedding video meant so much more now than it did before. Photos and videos are the only things (besides your rings) that will increase in value with time.

Please note:

I have received several comments regarding this week’s email we sent regarding a Bride’s father who had passed shortly after her wedding.
It has appeared that the email may have been interpreted differently than our intentions of the email.
It’s a story you never want to think about. Life is too short and the message was meant to make a point about valuing every moment we have with our loved ones. This story hit close to home for me personally and I felt like it was a story to share.
I apologize if this appeared tasteless or capitalistic, it was not our intention. It came from my heart. Please accept my apologies.

I have kept this article online because it speaks to my heart, and sometimes you have to follow your heart. This is a message about valuing every moment you have with your family. This is a very personal message from our hearts to yours.

This video was shot by Robert Charles Wedding Films. The Bride’s father passed away unexpectantly shortly after the wedding, and created this beautiful piece.

If there is one single thing you can do to make a pretty room POP with drama is to add up-lighting. It is cost effective and really improves the ambiance of the room. I absolutely LOVE up-lighting and I had the pleasure to shoot Orlando based wedding DJ – Our DJ Rocks-  up-lighting set up. We shot a timelaps at Leu Garens in Orlando Florida. In the video, you can see the dramatic transformation of the ballroom.

To Have a ‘First Look’ or Not?

posted in Tips, Weddings and tagged , , , on

If you haven’t already had this conversation with your photgrpher and cinematogrpher, you need to. The decision to have a ‘first look’ will affect the timeline of your day, and the number and quality of photos and video you will have. Essentially, a first look is a staged meeting of you and your fiancée before you two walk down the isle. It is usually followed up with a photo session before the ceremony begins.

If you are a strictly traditional couple, you will most likely want to skip out on this, however, all couples should educate themselves to make sure they make the best decision for their wedding.

Pros: Because the photographer and cinematographer have time on their sides you will most likely have more time for getting photos. Because this is posed shot sequence, and there are no other guests or formalities to think about, the photographer and cinematographer have creative freedom, directing the couple for the perfect shots- plus they will have more aloted time since your not rushing to your cocktail hour. If your cermeony ends after dusk, you may want to consider doing a first look so that you can get some fantastic natural lit photos. The best plus is that after the ceremony, you will have much more time with your guests and enjoying your wedding- because isn’t this why your having a wedding int he first place?

The short: More “just us” photos and a great video opportunity to capture those emotions, taking photos at the optimal time of day, and more time at your wedding.

Cons: If you are traditional, and have always dreamed about seeing one another – for the first time- looking down the isle, this may not be for you. Although first looks’ can be very imitate and emotional, this is not the traditional way of seeing one another. Also, you will have to plan to have more time with your photographer and cinematographer because your day will start earlier.

The growing trend of ‘first looks’ is proof that it’s worth thinking about.

Making A Sound Investment

posted in Tips and tagged , , on

As a smart 20 something, I am always looking for way to better my life, to better my future. I went to college to invest in my educational future and I purchased a house below it’s market value to invest in the real-estate market.

Hiring a quality wedding videographer/cinematographer to film your wedding is a smart investment for those who value their memories and heritage. I may be a bit biased but you need to hire a quality wedding videographer- even if you don’t hire us.

Recently I have been contacted by a past client who married 3 months ago, she told me that her aunt passed away unexpectedly, and the last photos and videos they have of her was at the wedding. She asked if I could provide her with all video of her aunt in effort to help ease their family’s pain and relive the good memories.

When planning your wedding, it’s not so pleasant to think that some of the people who will be attending your wedding, will not be on this earth in 2 years, or 6 years or 20 years down the road. Whether we want to think about that or not, it’s the truth. Aside from your wedding bands and the fluctuating market of gold, platinum and other presious minerals, there are two things you can do when planning a wedding that will grow in value. Your wedding photos and wedding video.

Google’s Definition:

in·vest·ment

noun /inˈves(t)mənt/
investments, plural

  1. The action or process of investing money for profit or material result
  2. A thing that is worth buying because it may be profitable or useful in the future
    • - a used car is rarely a good investment
  3. An act of devoting time, effort, or energy to a particular undertaking with the expectation of a worthwhile result

How much would you pay to see your Grandparent’s wedding video? To see your grandfather dance and laugh with your grandmother, to see their parents give a toast. How much would you spend? Five-hundred Dollars? $Two-thousand Dollars?  Can you even put a price on such family historical value? The bottom line is that the value of your wedding video and photos will only increase in value after your wedding. Hiring good studios to capture those memories may be the best decision you make for your wedding.

But don’t take my word for it. Ask your married friends, ask your neighbors, your family. Ask them if they regret not having a wedding video.

Tips To Help Make A Great Wedding Film

posted in Tips, Weddings and tagged , , , , , , , , on

Now that you have found the PERFECT cinematographer to film your wedding, hooray! There are a few steps you can do to ensure your wedding film will be amazing.

  • No Gun Chewing. Call it a pet peeve of mine, but I know you will thank me later. The last thing you want to see is yourself chewing like a cow during your vows. Stick to mints and encourage your wedding party to do the same.
  • Schedule Gift Giving – and share the schedule. When we know when you will be opening your gifts that you give to one another, we will be much more prepared to film it (and the emotions that follow). Let us know, when you will be planning on delivering and/or giving gifts.
  • Clean Bride Prep Space. Keep the area where you be getting ready tidy its much easier to work around and plus it looks better in your photos and video!
  • Keep music to a minimum while getting ready. Some of the things you will be saying or others will be saying will sound much better in your film when its not compeating with the radio.
  • Prepping your MOH for a good toast. The best toasts are  well prepared and concise. Make sure the toast-er speaks about both of you, it makes for a much better film when we can hear about you both!
  • Allow free time with the cinematographer. When you schedule time with the photographer to do intimate photos of just the bride and groom, be sure to schedule in time for the cinematographer to work her magic. We usually need about 20 minutes.
