As I’m planning my wedding, I occasionally read wedding planning forums. And I keep seeing this trend that is alarming! I came across this post on the Wedding Bee.
“Hi Hive, I just need to vent a little bit because this has been such a supportive community. I had my wedding last weekend, and LOVED every minute of it. It was an amazing, beautiful day beyond my wildest dreams. So much fun and so love-filled. My biggest regret, however, is not getting professional videography. I planned every detail so carefully, and really splurged on photography, but I am really kicking myself now for not getting pro video. I really considered videography for awhile but given that our budget had ballooned, decided to abandon it. I did have a cousin shoot some moments of the ceremony, and speeches at the reception – watching these, however, made me crave for pro videography. There were a lot of missed moments in the amateur video. I am grateful I had something at all, but really wished I had invested in video. What has been your experience? Anyone else regret not having videography? Do you know anyone who didn’t regret not having videography?”
I come across this all too often, in casual greetings, I will meet a newly wed couple who after finding out my occupation disclose that they chose NOT to have their wedding professionally filmed. In all cases, they seamed disappointed to say the least. I have never heard of a couple saying “I wish I had ordered custom napkins” or “I wish I had those extra party favors” (Typically a couple ends up with lots of leftovers anyhow!) You don’t hear that, you do however hear, I wish I had my wedding professionally filmed.
Think about it, talk about it with recently married couples. Just make sure your not going to regret your decision!
